Cycle One (2023-24): December: Advent
 
Advent can be such a magical time of year, full of wonder and anticipation. This secular guide will inspire and support you in creating some festive magic in your family home in the lead up to Christmas. With instructions for 24 simple, low cost, low waste, magical ideas for celebrating Advent together as a family.
 
This theme works a little differently to the others in the curriculum. It serves as an Advent activity calendar, in that there is an activity suggestion for each day, from the 1st to the 24th December. Of course, you may wish to swap the activities around to better suit your schedule, so there is room for flexibility.
 
The activities include simple crafts, acts of kindness, recipes and creative projects, as opposed to child led, open ended invitations to play. The activities have been planned with the whole family in mind, with suggestions made for alternative ideas, simplification or extension, for younger and older siblings.
 
This guide includes a materials list, a recommended reading list and a list of related play and learning materials.
